Participate in a dynamic, hands-on learning experience surrounded by passionate photographers and expert instructors.
Hands-On Learning in Stunning Locations: Conferences provide an opportunity to practice and refine your skills in breathtaking outdoor settings, guided by Chrissy and a team of expert instructors. You'll gain practical, real-time experience while shooting in dynamic environments.
Multiple Perspectives: Gain invaluable insights from a team of professional landscape photographers. By working alongside different instructors, you’ll benefit from diverse teaching styles, creative approaches, and expert advice that you can't get from a solo workshop.
Inspiring Group Energy: Collaborating with other passionate photographers fosters a spirit of camaraderie and creativity. You'll not only learn from instructors but also from your peers, enhancing your experience and helping you push your photography further.
Break Free from Your Routine: Conferences offer an immersive experience to step away from the daily grind and dive fully into photography. Whether it's sunrise shoots or late-night editing, this is your time to focus entirely on your craft.
Unique Networking Opportunities: Beyond the learning, conferences are a chance to connect with like-minded photographers, building lasting friendships and valuable professional contacts that continue long after the event ends.
Why Conferences are the Ultimate Photography Experience
If there's one place that holds a special place in my heart, it's the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. So, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be teaching at the Out of the Great Smoky Mountains Conference this spring with an incredible team of instructors!
Out of Chicago conferences are truly unique—bringing together so many passionate photographers creates an atmosphere unlike any other. Add the magic of waterfalls, wildflowers, and wildlife, with fog rolling over the hills and through the coves, and it’s an experience that leaves me in awe each day.
In addition to the field sessions, we’ll be gathering daily at Little Arrow Outdoor Resort, right at the park’s entrance for classes, table talks, group meals, and campfires. It’s the perfect spot to feel at home in nature, whether you choose to stay in a tiny home, cabin, or a glamping setup. Prefer hotel accommodations? The Tremont Hotel is just five minutes away.
"I will definitely attend more Out of Chicago conferences. The key benefits to me were the photographic diversity of and the real-time, in-the-field interactions with the instructors. I was skeptical because of its scale of about 80 participants. The conference was very well organized and had the feel of one that was 10 times smaller. OOC knocked it out of the park."
Few places rival the rugged beauty and ever-changing moods of Grandfather Mountain. That’s why I’m thrilled to be a speaker at this year’s Nature Photography Weekend.
This event is a special blend of education, creativity, and connection, offering field courses, inspiring presentations, and the rare opportunity to photograph Grandfather Mountain’s landscapes before and after regular hours. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, this weekend is designed to be engaging, welcoming, and filled with opportunities to deepen both your craft and your appreciation for nature.
Each day, we’ll gather for workshops, discussions, and community meals. You’ll have access to sunrise and sunset locations, as well as the option to camp at Woods Walk for a truly immersive experience. Plus, this year’s event is focused more than ever on connecting photography with conservation—because the more we appreciate nature, the more we’re inspired to protect it.
"What a fabulous experience. All of the instructors were passionate about photography as an art form and so willing to share their knowledge. I would recommend the conferences to any photographer, regardless of skill level, for an immersive learning experience."
